Jakarta Urban Regeneration is an urban strategy proposal that is addressed to scenarios what the future is for Jakarta after not being a capital city of Indonesia. Many studies have projected that governmental activities will be relocated to the new capital, meanwhile, Jakarta still becomes one of the economic drivers for the country. During this transition period, there is an opportunity for the city to improve its quality of life, especially in term of urban mobility and spatial development. This proposal would like to address that.

Urban regeneration concept is understood as an effort to utilize underused, distressed and decaying urban areas or land in order to improve the city’s image, livability and productivity. Departing from this understanding, this proposal offers four primary strategies: rail-based transportation development, inclusive development, transportation-land use-urban design integration and public assets regeneration. Regeneration in Jakarta is started with public transportation investment and along the corridors, each area will be regenerated with three categories: major transit areas, minor transit areas and special purpose transit areas. Altogether with a state-owned developer, this proposal also gives suggestions of several pilot areas to be regenerated soon
